2025 marks 40 years since the world first felt the wrath of GWAR. Since forming in Richmond, Virginia, GWAR has defiled every convention of what a band should be—creating a sprawling mythology, unleashing gallons of bodily fluids, and building a fanbase as rabid as their live shows are chaotic. What began as an underground theatrical freakshow has grown into a full-blown intergalactic empire of heavy metal madness.
