Camp Kala 2025 Wk5 • Mixed Media Madness • Ages 6-11

Explore color, shape, pattern, and texture using mixed media, including paint, collage, graphite, sculpture, and more, to investigate the world around you. Create mixed media work inspired by artists throughout history, including contemporary Bay Area artists. Have fun creating abstract and representational objects, sculptures, places, and human and animal forms, and experiment with new materials to express your ideas and imagination!

Christiana Reining (She/Her) is a practicing artist, working in 2-D and mixed media, and also currently working at The Crowden School in Berkeley teaching art to elementary and middle school students primarily in 3-8th grades. As the only art teacher on staff, she plans and develops curriculum across grades and abilities, works with parents, sets up art salons, and provides community-building art projects. Christiana received a Masters in Teaching from The School of Education at Mills College in June 2021 where she apprenticed with Gillian Bailey, the chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Program at Piedmont High School teaching Art 1 to 9-12th grade students.

Youth Arts Classes (including Camp Kala) $50 administrative fee, per participant registered, will be charged for class or camp cancellations requested by families. If you cancel your registration 30 days before the first day of class or camp, the remainder of your class fee will be refunded, or you can apply the full class tuition as a credit towards another Kala class or camp, space permitting. With fewer than 14 days’ notice, you will only receive class or camp credit if we can fill your spot with another participant from the waitlist. Cancellations requested less than 72 hrs before the first day of class or camp are not eligible for class credit. All credits must be used within one year of cancellation.
