Ballet Afsaneh is seeking 2–4 experienced dancers to join our paid performance ensemble for the 2025–26 season. We’re looking for dancers who are excited to train in and perform Persian, Afghan, Tajik, and Uzbek dance traditions with a commitment of at least one year.
🧿 We’re Looking For:
- Strong foundation in Contemporary, Ballet, Modern, or traditional dance forms (e.g., Classical Indian, Iranian, Tajik, Uzbek, Classical Chinese)
- Experience with Central Asian or Middle Eastern dance is a plus
- Prior ensemble/company experience
- Commitment to weekly classes and rehearsals
- Willingness to do (or learn) professional performance makeup
💃🏻 What We Offer:
- Paid performances: $150 per gig
- Paid classes: $20/hr
- Paid rehearsals: $25/hr
- Travel fully covered for out-of-town performances (e.g., NYC, DC, LA)
Part-time employee status with Afsaneh Arts (nonprofit)

Daytime Audition:
Monday, August 18 | 10:00am–12:00pm
*For dancers with weekday availability — we’re exploring a possible daytime track
You may come to either or both.
🗓 Weekly Schedule (starts Sept 3):
📍 Wednesdays in Berkeley or Monday daytime depending on availability.
- Class: 6:15–7:45pm
- Rehearsal: 8:00–9:30/10:00pm
- Additional weekend rehearsals as needed
All dancers begin as Apprentices with paid training and performance opportunities. Full company membership may be offered based on dedication, professionalism, and alignment with our mission.
