Chinese artist Nhozagri is set to transform Northing Space into a microcosm where the past alloys with the future, forging something indescribably novel. In an age of isolation and desperation, we are relentlessly perturbed by an overload of information—predominantly bad news—dragging us deeper into an ominous unknown. Nhozagri’s installations (some edible), paintings, and performances offer a way out—a reinvented wishing well—one that, hopefully, brings solace and reconciliation.
About the Artist
Nhozagri received her Bachelor’s degree from Studio 4 of the Printmaking Department at the China Academy of Art in 2010 and her Master‘s degree from Studio 6 of the Printmaking Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2015.
Attempting to construct a cosmological system of self-contained lifeforms, Nhozagri has developed research on the spiritual dimension of various unconventional narrative models. She will continue to forecast the final sweet dream until the very last joule of cosmic heat is exhausted.
Her works encompass easel painting, sculpture, animation, and independent publishing—eccentric, cute, and unrestricted.
Nhozagri has exhibited as a solo artist and in group shows in Tokyo, New York, London, Taipei, Copenhagen, Chicago, Liverpool, Leipzig, and numerous cities across China. Currently, her work is also part of the group exhibition The Cute Escape at Kunsthalle Erfurt in Germany.
The exhibition opening is also in the program of this year’s Bergen Art Book Fair. Northing - Centre for East Asian Art & Culture is kindly supported by Bergen Municipality and the Arts Council Norway. Northing‘s program in 2025 is also supported by Fritt Ord Foundation and Vestland County through the Cultural Development Projects scheme.
