Age and Stage: Poetry and Music with Matt Black, Julian Butt and Mike Smith

Come and join us for an evening of music with Anologue Electronic Whatever (aka Julian Butt), poetry with Matt Black, and finally poetry and music woven together with virtuoso guitarist Mike Smith. Themes will include ageing, ageing punks, disco, knees, Derbyshire, parents and lanyards.

Matt Black reads and performs from his new collection Fishing Dentures out of Mashed Potato – which costs £5. All proceeds go to Myton Hospices. He was Derbyshire Poet Laureate (2011-13) and is well-known for giving entertaining readings. “Fishing Dentures out of Mashed Potato is a collection of love and laughter and everyone should read it. AEW (aka Julian Butt) will use cast-away sounds, recycled synths and drum machines to create a balance between pop structures and experimentation. They will be joined by Mike Smith, whose guitar skills were a key feature of the renowned Derbyshire project Mills and Chimneys. Mike is a regular on the Sheffield music scene.
