🛍️ While you’re here, engage in some retail therapy, because we’re also participating in the borough’s town-wide yard sale (Saturday ONLY).

Originally scheduled to open in November 2012, the museum’s debut was delayed by Superstorm Sandy, which hit the Jersey Shore four days earlier. Flooding in the building sent volunteers scrambling to preserve the museum’s treasures (you can see the water line on our tour). A bulk of the memorabilia and historical artifacts were given to the Monmouth County Archives in Manalapan for safekeeping, with the assistance of the Borough of Belmar, the Monmouth County Historical Commission, and the New Jersey Historical Commission. The museum opened two and a half years later on April 11, 2015 at 900 E Street, in the annex of Union Firehouse.
