'Not the Whole Picture:
Garth Amundson & Pierre Gour'
This will be the first major museum exhibition for Bellingham-based artists Garth Amundson and Pierre Gour, highlighting 35 years of their collaborative work in photography, painting, and mixed media. A focal point of the show is a new large-scale photography installation where stitched-together images form radiating rings reminiscent of devotional mandalas.
Their work often centers on queer identity and shared human experiences such as birthdays, travel, celebrations, and mourning. They pull from both their personal archive and contributions from the community. The exhibition aims to spark conversations around empathy and shared memory.
Both artists are tenured faculty at WWU and have exhibited widely, completing residencies around the world. Their work has been shown nationally and internationally, including in New York, Chicago, South Korea, Spain, and Mexico.
