Funded partially by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Society for Humanistic Arab Media Studies (SHAMS) is a new scholarly society under the AIMS initiative at #IAS_NUQ. It promotes humanistic approaches to Arab media, drawing on diverse disciplines—from literature, history, and philosophy to media and cultural studies, race, postcolonial, and digital humanities. SHAMS fosters critical, multilingual scholarship in Arabic, English, and French.
Join us in Beirut for the launch: A full day of panels on humanistic media studies, concluding with the first constitutive assembly.
