Favoured State & Frons @ Tanswells (FREE ENTRY)

Favoured State is a post-punk band out of Melbourne forging a sonic and visual identity that’s both emotionally raw and artistically refined. Their work lives in the tension between chaos and control — drawing from the tactile, imperfect nature of human experience while resisting the increasingly rigid expectations of modern creativity.

The centre of an insect's face – the frons – is a tiny yet sturdy triangle defined on its borders by beady eyes and grinding mouthparts. Melbourne three-piece punks Frons embody this same description. Complex guitar patterns interlock with muscular drums beneath vocal layers that easily sway from savage to serene, a performance that remains playful wherever their sound swarms.
