Free Class: Turning Pathways Into Underground Water Reservoirs with Ruth Gardner-Loew
Learn how to use three key permaculture principles—slow it, store it, spread it—to retain water in Austin’s dry soil. This class introduces hugelkultur, a technique that layers logs, branches, cardboard, and soil to create raised beds. As the wood decomposes, it enriches the soil, improves water retention, and distributes moisture and nutrients naturally.

Ruth Gardner-Loew is a trained permaculture educator (Permaculture Education Institute, Queensland, Australia)
