Nantlle to Rhydd Du | Approx. 5 miles / 8 km | Easy - 200m elevation gain | 3 hours | Optional Lake Swim towards the end

As there is not a public transport option for this walk, we will gather in the Rhydd Du car park and spend approx 10 minutes driving in one or two cars back to the start point (shuttle) at Nantlle.

Join us for a relaxed and friendly guided walk along the fifth section of the stunning Llwybr Llechi Eryri – the Snowdonia Slate Trail. Starting at Nantlle, we’ll wind our way along the slate trail for five miles, finishing back at the cars in Rhydd Ddu. here is an optional dip in Llyn y Dywarchen at the end if you choose.
The uphill section is steady, after the middle of the walk. The last mile/2km is downhill. There may be boggy sections on this walk. This is a really beautiful walk and despite an uphill section, is very accessible if you're not used to walking.
Bring comfy walking shoes/boots, a waterproof jacket and trousers (just in case!), lunch, snacks and a drink. If its a warm day, you'll also need a sunhat and suncream, and extra water (at least 2 litres). Bring a swimming costume and lightweight towel if you would like to swim. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
This walk is free for unpaid carers (people who self-define as undertaking care of a loved one with an illness or disability, no proof required), and a £5 suggested donation for non-carers. Please do book your space in order to attend as numbers are limited.
We will provide walking poles free of charge and tow floats for swimmers.
