Local Artist Terry Wilkinson will run a clay pottery class with kiln fired clay. This course is for complete beginners and will teach you how to hand make a clay sculpture that will be bisque fired. Once finished there are two things you can do with your piece!
- The piece will go into the kiln for a first bisque firing and can be picked up from the artist after two weeks. This bisque fired piece can be taken home as an art piece and treasured with the memories it holds. Enjoy the clay’s natural being!
- When booking you can choose from a clear glaze or a speckled glaze for an extra $30. After the first bisque firing Terry will apply the glaze and get it fired for a second time. Your new, shiny piece will be ready for you a month after your class.
Terry has worked with clay for over twenty years. She is an accomplished artist who is local to Beachmere and has a passion for seeing those around her learn new art skills.
Schedule will include
- Set up work station including table, chairs and water. Terry is an artist who has mobility issues. At BASinc we are inclusive, so we ask that all participants set up and pack down their stations.
- Create your piece by molding and working the clay. Learn techniques to ensure clay doesn’t hold air pockets, make the clay work the way you want it to, stick pieces together and create detail in your work.
- Have tea and pack down station.
- Afterward pieces will sit to dry for two weeks and be bisque fired. For those who have chosen to have their clay glazed by Terry pieces will go for a final firing. Depending on your choice, your piece will be ready for pickup when contacted by the class tutor.
