After having a VERY successful return to OJ Mac's Tavern on Broadway, after a hiatus, because of winter.... we resume the week with our regular gaming night at 'The Vic.' We play in the outside area at OJ Mac's. Once it got too cold, we called it. Yesterday was the perfect day to resume. Turnout was awesome. A LOT of new chess players attended. Owen, the owner, already had a few marble chess sets BEFORE we ever spoke. He purchased a few more. So, he's DEFINITELY serious about making chess a thing at OJ Macs.
Same goes for Al at 'The Vic.' He too had bought several chess sets for his customers to use whenever they want, or we can use when we pack his place.
The Bayonne Chess Society & Club has 'The Vic' as one of the many venues in Bayonne, where residents and visitors can visit, and find themselves a game of chess or a boardgame. Mondays is The Vic's day for a 'Combo event. It has a spacious back dining area that can hold all our players,. Players who love the game of kings, or players that love everything else.
We're more than just chess....thus the '& Club' part of the name. It's about coming together and just having a good time. Meet good people. Make good friends. Stuff our faces. Just chill and have a good time.
We're currently 500+ active participating members strong. We don't just meet for chess, but we also have boardgame, card game nights. Scrabble, Skip Bo, Uno, Phase 10, Mah Jongg, Dominoes, Jenga, etc. We're on Facebook and Meetup. Join us if you're local or in a town nearby.
