‘Spikes’ Kalbarri Weekender – June 2026
Weekend Schedule – May 30 - June 1, 2026
Saturday
Departing from Gingers Roadhouse Upper Swan at 7:30am
The route will take the Brand Hwy with a fuel/refreshment/convenience stop at Badgingarra
Roadhouse (174km 1hr 50min), then heading on to Dongarra, refuelling as needed and lunch at the
Dongara Bakery (155km 1hr 37min). Others heading up the Indian Ocean Drive may meet us here
we will arrive around Midday.
Final stop will be at the 440 Roadhouse (78km 60min), north of Geraldton at the Caltex Glenfield
roadhouse, Drummond Cove
2:30pm – Full group departure. The last leg taking us through to Kalbarri (143km 1hr 36min)
Following arrival and check-ins in Kalbarri the evening is open. Plenty of choices for meals around
town with a suggested gathering at the Kalbarri Hotel on Grey Street (cnr of Grey and Porter).
Sunday
Is a free day to relax, explore or if you need something to do, the following is a proposed plan of
activities to interest the HOGs for the Sunday.
Group ride along the foreshore.
9:00am – Assemble at the Boat Ramp carpark on Gray Street (back of Caravan Park opposite the
Gorges Café) See Picture 1 on following page.
9:15am – Depart the Boat Ramp carpark for ride along the foreshore to the Chinaman’s Rock
carpark.
9:30am – Group photo. See Picture 2 on following page.
Activities for Sunday
1. Rides to Kalbarri National Park, Skywalk, Natures Window, Coastal Cliffs etc.
($10 per bike entry fee) Departure point TBD
2. 5:00pm – Meet at the BBQ Area Kalbarri Palm Resort (byo nibbles & beverages) Meat and
salads provided @ $10/person MJ Registration/RSVP essential.
Theme for the BBQ night – “Gone Fishing”, with Prizes for best dressed.
Monday
For a group ride return to Perth, have some breakfast and depart from the Gorges Café on Grey St
at 8:00am. The return ride will take a route from Northampton through Nabawa and Nanson,
bypassing Geraldton, and onto the Liberty Roadhouse Dongarra (233km 2hr 40min) for fuel and
refreshment. From Dongarra folks can take the Indian Ocean Drive down the coast or continue with
me on the Brand Hwy, stopping at the Liberty Roadhouse Cataby (195km 1hr 56min) for fuel and
refreshment before the last leg home.
