Diss Remembers: VJ Day 80 Commemoration

*FREE EVENT* Join us in Diss Park on 15th August for a commemoration event marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

Hosted by Salvation Army Bandmaster Iain Sturgeon, the evening includes tributes, music, remembrance and celebration.

We’re honoured to welcome the Deputy Lieutenant for Norfolk as our VIP guest.

Diss’ Honoured Citizens will light the beacon alongside communities nationwide, celebrating the end of WWII and 80 years of peace. Join in singing patriotic hymns and songs in tribute to those who served.

The event also features the unveiling of new inscriptions on the beacon seating for VE and VJ Day 80, and a USAAF memorial ceremony near Mere Street, including two commemorative roses.

Refreshments will be available from the Park Pavilion Kiosk throughout the event.
