Drumming and Zine workshop - Banbury

Join Serena D and James Stevenson at The Light in Banbury this Pride month as they explore connection and communication through rhythm in this exciting free drumming workshop.

Following the drumming workshop grab your pritt-stick and join us for a zine making workshop where you can make a fanzine dedicated to your favourite music, design a zine for your music crush or collage your fantasy gig.

The drumming workshop will be a drop in session running from 11am-12pm with the zine workshop running after this. This is a safe space for everyone to attend. No experience needed and all materials will be provided.

James Stevenson is a music educator and world percussion specialist with over a decade’s experience in teaching Brazilian samba. He has led samba ensembles all around the UK, with performances as diverse as parades, festivals and even once opening for legendary pianist Lang Lang. He lends his expertise to this session, bringing the sound of the Rio carnival to Banbury.

Serena D is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, an accomplished performer and educator adept on drumkit and world percussion spanning the last 20years; with a focus on mental health through rhythmical expression with over several years experience as a music practitioner.
