About the event

WTMD's First Thursday Festival - June 5, 2024
It’s our 20th year of Baltimore’s largest free music and arts festival series. It’s pretty wild to reminisce on how much we’ve grown in the span of two decades… thanks to support from music lovers like you. We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you all season long at Canton Waterfront Park!

Join us for the inaugural kickoff concert on Thursday, June 5—presented by CFG Bank and the Maryland Energy Administration. The fun will begin at 5:30 and go until 10 PM.

We’re thrilled to start the season with Craig Finn. Finn is no stranger to the First Thursday stage… He performed back in 2014 with 20+ year industry veterans The Hold Steady. Finn is currently on tour for his sixth solo album, Always Been—produced by friend and fellow musician Adam Granduciel of the War on Drugs—which is being touted as a collection of some of his finest songwriting to date.

WTMD also welcomes Brandi & the Alexanders—a five-piece Brooklyn outfit who’ll hit the stage with their self-professed brand of “cosmopolitan soul”—fusing funk, pop, R&B, and gospel with psychedelic rock. Heavily inspired by the music of Aretha Franklin, Chic, Chaka Kahn, and Sharon Jones… you’re going to want to make sure you’ve got your dancing shoes on for this one!

Representing the Baltimore music scene is Rex Pax—formed by UMBC alumni Rex Echevarría and Sam Pascal—introducing the First Thursday crowd to their locally made eclectic mix of heavy synth, lo-fi indie, and 90’s prog rock.

Discover new music and dance the night away along Baltimore’s scenic waterfront; enjoy delicious local fare from a variety of food and beverage vendors; and support over 100 local artisans, makers, and manufacturers. For more details, visit wtmd.org/firstthursdays.

There’s something for everyone at First Thursdays… it’s where community happens.

Mark your calendars! We’ll see you real soon, Baltimore!

First Thursdays is made possible in part by the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund and the Dan Tamburrino Memorial Gift.
