Wilson Springs Hotel w/ Mr. Husband and Continental Breakfast Club at the 8x10
Homegrown in the rich music scene of Virginia, Wilson Springs Hotel is a band brought together under a genreless flag; A folk band committed to rock and roll, and a rock band committed to classic country. After forming in 2021, Jacob Ritter (guitar/songwriter/lead vocals), Victor McManus (lead guitar), Brendan Boylan (fiddle), Stephan La Rue (drums) and Andrew Carper (bass), released two albums in quick succession and are once again releasing new music in 2024. Their first single “Pulling Weeds”, available now, explores the struggle with repetitive mental loops, like attempting to get nutrients out of the same spent garden. Their new songs are a split between a classic country, and a more rock influenced sound, finding the band still unwilling to conform to a single genre, and instead celebrating the many influences that brought them to where they are today.
Mayland’s own Mr. Husband is a group of friends and family making laid-back, psychedelic indie rock tinged with Soul, R&B, Jazz, and Classic Country. Led by Kenny Tompkins, a prolific songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who is also known for his work as New God, the group has released numerous albums on several noteworthy labels including Yellow K, Human Sounds, Forged Artifacts, and PIAPTK. The group features drummer Chris Morris(Cotton Jones / Michael Nau), Guitarist Adam Laye, and Kenny’s brother Curt Tompkins who plays bass while singing in tight sibling harmony. They are currently working on their 9th album while sporadically playing shows on the East Coast and hope to release a string of new singles in late 2025.
Formed in 2023, Continental Breakfast Club is shaking up the DMV’s indie rock scene with a raw, infectious energy that’s impossible to ignore. Their debut album, Love Songs From The Bathroom, introduced listeners to their signature blend of anthemic hooks and emotional depth — and they haven’t slowed down since. Their single The Outfield — a “dance-in-an-open-field-emo-ballad” — quickly became a fan favorite, drawing rave reviews and fueling demand for their high-energy live shows.
Their latest release, Punchline, is an upbeat rock anthem already making waves as a contender for an under the radar song of the summer, surpassing 2,000 streams in just three days.
All signs are pointing towards the Breakfast Club being poised for a breakout year in 2025, dare I say, it could be Continental.
