Intentional Joy 2025

You ever look around at the life you’ve built—degrees, titles, family, the whole nine—and wonder, Why don’t I feel full?

Intentional Joy 2025 is your invitation to put that question on the table and sit with it in community.

This isn’t a vision board party. It’s not another “self-care” event wrapped in to-do lists. This is an intimate, intentional space for Black women over 40 who are ready to stop performing and start prioritizing their joy for real.

We’ll move through three powerful phases: Release. Reaffirm. Reprogram.

First, we release.
We’ll gather in circle to unpack the old beliefs we’ve been carrying—about rest, worthiness, sacrifice, and joy.

We’ll ask the questions most people never do:

• Who or what are you resenting for your lack of joy?
• What stories did you inherit that made joy feel like a reward instead of a right?
• Did you ever see your mother or the women around you choose joy for themselves without guilt?

Then, we reaffirm.
In a sacred Waist Bead Intention Ceremony led by Sunny Majeedah of Wombaya, each woman will have her strands tied as she speaks her affirmation aloud. You’ll bear witness to others doing the same—because this ain’t just about you. This is about a collective returning to what we’ve been denied: self-honoring joy.

Each bead, each word, each knot is a reclamation. Of your body. Of your boundaries. Of your joy.

Finally, we reprogram.
We’ll break bread, share fresh bites and handcrafted drinks, and hold space for one another.
You’ll reflect and share—if you feel called—how you’re rewriting the story of joy for yourself. This part isn’t about closure; it’s about continuation.
Because this journey doesn’t end here.
