Bring friends and family to celebrate Turn Again to the Earth, the BMA’s city-wide initiative and series of exhibitions focusing on the environment, climate change, art, and culture. Among the series is Black Earth Rising, an exhibition of compelling artworks by contemporary African diasporic, Latin American, and Native American artists who are inspired by the splendor and fragility of the natural world.
Community Day is an outdoor event for all ages. This event will feature a Qigong mindful movement session in the Ryda and Robert H. Levi Sculpture Garden led by Mary Pinkard, a live musical performance by composer and multi-instrumentalist Jamal R. Moore, and family-friendly interactive activities. Connect with local environmental organizations, such as the Natural History Society of Maryland, Bikemore, Blue Water Baltimore, and Acres4Change. Enjoy a selection of delicious food and beverages from Juicing with Jazz and Our Time Kitchen members Chachu’s Chai, The Veggie Table, and Somethang Delicious.
Community Day is free to attend. The afternoon also includes free timed-entry tickets to see Black Earth Rising. Reserve free tickets for Sunday, May 18 in the tickets section.
