Join violinist Bartholomew Fortino-Shields and pianist Chan Mi Jean for an afternoon of classical music at An die Musik Live!

Italian-American violinist, Bartholomew Frederick Fortino-Shields was hailed in The Baltimore Sun as “Amazing.” At the age of 14 Bartholomew was accepted into the violin studio of Sally Thomas of the Juilliard School. Since then, Mr. Shields has been featured in iconic venues around the globe. Upcoming appearances include solo concerts at the Gasteig HP8 in Munich and Stadsherstel in Amsterdam. Bartholomew has won numerous competitions and recently received the honor of laureate of the 2024 Classic Violin Olympus International Competition, where “the world’s finest violinists showcase their talent and compete for top honors.” He performed for jury chairman Pavel Vernikov and Sarah Nemtanu, who is concertmaster of the Orchestre National de France, among other prestigious violinists.
In 2022, Bartholomew completed his Master of Music degree in Violin Performance at the Peabody Institute, where he was a scholarship recipient of the Artistic Excellence Award, studying under Judith Ingolfsson.
Chan Mi Jean is the Lecturer in Music at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she specializes in Collaborative Piano. She serves as the Co-Director/Chair of Collaborative Piano for the Vilacello String and Piano Festival. Jean is an emerging solo pianist, chamber musician, and opera coach who has made international appearances and won numerous national and international competitions, including the 8th New York International Music Concours. A native of Seoul, she received her D.M.A. in Collaborative Piano from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a minor in Opera Coaching; M.M. and P.D. in Piano Performance from Indiana University.
