Tweens Create with the Elisabet Ney Museum

Learn about the art of portraiture through an activity inspired by local artist, Virginia L. Montgomery. During this session, we will experiment with creating clay portraits by studying dramatic poses. Participants will receive all of the necessary supplies along with guided instructions. There is no fee and attendance is open to youth ages 8 through 12 years old.

This activity is part of the Elisabet Ney Museum's brand new program, Breaking the Mold: Mobile Art Crates. The crate, itself, and the inside contents were designed by Virginia L. Montgomery, as a way to illuminate Elisabet Ney's views as a naturalist while enlisting STEAM focused teaching methodologies.

This project has been funded by a grant from the Dorothy C. Radgowski Learning Through Women’s Achievement in the Arts Grant Program, provided through the Where Women Made History and the Historic Artists' Homes and Studios programs of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Summerlee Foundation.
