Trans and intersex people have a long history of serving as spiritual healers, innovators, historians, and more. We say prayers and magic spells to care for one another. We enact rituals to mark our transformations. We find ways to unearth and preserve ancient traditions that have been lost or suppressed. Through artwork, we map out our unique sacred journeys through life–journeys of change, discovery, love, rejection, acceptance, celebration, and more.
In a world where trans and intersex people are often rejected from or tokenized within faith communities, SACRED JOURNEYS celebrates our creativity and recognizes the sacred nature of our lives.
Come visit SACRED JOURNEYS hosted at the Sharon and Brian Moore Alternative Space Gallery within First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin (4700 Grover Avenue, Austin TX 78756) from May 4 - July 5.
Please join us for a gallery opening on May 31st from 6-8pm at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin, featuring a Q&A with some of the artists featured in the gallery!
