About this Event

Los Alcos are a Latin Psychedelic Fusion band, formed by Father-Son duo David & Alex Alcocer. Los Alcos blends Latin-Rock into hypnotic Psychedelia , with sounds and vibes like Santana, Los Mirlos, The Mars Volta, Selena, and Tame Impala. The intention of Los Alcos music is to elevate our vibrations with dance and connection, sharing our best energy through our sonic abilities. Vanessa Burden sings songs of protest, self-empowerment, and justice, while Alex Alcocer serenades us with stories of spirits speaking. David "Papa Alco" Alcocer shreds guitar like he won San Antonio Current guitarist of the year back in '92. Papa Also continues leading each guitarist in Los Alcos like the wise sensei he is. Alex Alcocer leads the group, performing an inventive set up while captaining the song through the waves of the night. With a deep roster of best friends and family, each performance by La Familia Banda is unique and intense, full of concentration, improvisation, and passion.

Mr. Mota is a 4-piece Reggae Rock band from Boulder, Colorado. They are currently based in Austin, Texas.

Mr. Mota combines the energy of reggae music with their own distinctive spin, they create feel-good anthems that connect with listeners everywhere. Drawing on their passion for live shows, Mr. Mota delivers a sound that’s timeless.

While attending the University of Colorado Boulder, the band formed in May of 2021 at a university graduation event. One show was all it took for the group to gain traction, quickly leading to numerous offers to play throughout Boulder. From there, they landed on the name Mr. Mota and hit the ground running, booking shows wherever they could ski; across Colorado and the entire Rocky Mountain region. It’s safe to say that Boulder’s Fox Theatre played a vital role in Mr. Mota’s growth.

As the years went by, Mr. Mota gained more traction, leading to their first tour in the summer of 2023. They independently booked and headlined over 40 venues across the Midwest and East Coast, performing at notable spots like Mercury Lounge (NYC), Nectar’s (Burlington, Vermont), Portland House of Music (Portland, Maine), and Charleston Pour House (Charleston, South Carolina). The momentum from this tour led ultimately to a Winter 2024 Northeast US tour. With new releases on the horizon, Mr. Mota is ready to take their music anywhere and everywhere.

BLUE TONGUE: Austin-based funk fusion collective Blue Tongue’s music is served with equal parts funk, psych and electrifying live performances. Now for the average band, “electrifying” means solid musical chops and maybe a few jumps. But if you’re irrepressible Blue Tongue frontman Tre Pham (guitar, vocals), it also includes actual gymnastics of the backflip and splits nature. The rhythm section boasts drummer Jake Young’s mastery of jazz influenced groove, and Rowan Smoot’s muscular slap bass artistry. The ensemble is completed with Savannah Thieme’s buoyant synth textures, the hilariously virtuoisic David Thal on trumpet and effortlessly smooth Jeffrey Stevenson on saxophone, master Latin Percussionist Alex Alco, and finally the additional colors of guitarist Lee Chavez, now you have a Show.

With live shows this dynamic, it’s no surprise that opportunities abound in the form of festivals, national tours and club shows opening for beloved acts like Sam Greenfield, Ghost Funk Orchestra (thrice), Giacomo Turra, Here Come the Mummies, and Snarky Puppy spin off band Ghost Note. In fact, a recent west coast tour culminated in a stellar official performance at NAMM (the popular music industry convention) in Anaheim, and a recent performance included an after party show immediately following Vulfpeck at Stubb’s.

The band’s sonic exploration is supported by an impressive lineup of endorsements, including ADV-Sound, Marco Bass Guitars, and Tsakalis Audioworks. But Blue Tongue's collaboration with an Austin-based hot sauce company might be their most unique partnership yet, boasting a limited edition salsa with local salsa masters, Fantastic Fuego, with whom they produced a blue colored hot sauce called ‘Blumitas’ based on the garlic, serrano, habanero, corn and basil Chilean dish called Humitas.”

Spunky and self-sufficient, the band has their own recording studio where Pham taught himself production and mixing, so they could keep creating at will on a modest budget. This kind of magnetic tenacity shines through not just in Blue Tongue’s music, but in their overall approach in navigating their steady ascension. As the indefatigable Pham sums up, "Through enough effects pedals, creatine, and sheer determination, anything is possible."
