Our next meeting is coming up on Tuesday, August 5th at 7pm, and will feature demonstrating artist, Ryan McKerley who will demonstrate his fresh and exciting Minwax water carving technique on various handbuilt porcelain forms.
We will once again be meeting in the clay studio at Dougherty Arts Center at 1110 Barton Springs Road. The front parking lot will be blocked off as Dougherty (DAC) special event parking and that will be open to us. You will just need to get a free parking pass from the front desk when you arrive. The rest of the parking lot around the building and in Butler Park is open and free after 5pm, no parking pass required. More info on DAC parking can be found here:

Artist Statement
Process is the main influence on my work. I use a technique called water carving that mimics erosion. I paint paraffin on my dry, unfired pots and then wash the surface with a very wet sponge. The variations inherent in this technique helped to create the patterns and lines decorating my pots. I didn’t first envision a style. Instead, this technique led me to my current body of work. The forms, surfaces and designs made possible by water carving provide the foundation for my pieces.
Mass-produced glass, metal and plastic, as well as contemporary and historic pottery, inspire my work.
