Join Cohort 2 and The Giving Rose Foundation ATX by spreading community pride and restoration. We're showing up to support Sue Spears Martin and her decades-long dedication to preserving Bethany Cemetery—Austin’s first Black cemetery—and uplifting the East Austin community.

HONORING SUE SPEARS MARTIN
Sue Spears Martin’s unwavering devotion to Bethany Cemetery began in the mid-90s when safety concerns led her to uncover its powerful legacy. Her efforts helped secure its historical marker and preserve its place in Austin’s Black heritage. A true champion of East Austin, Sue continues to advocate fiercely for the community and its landmarks with humility and heart.
