**August 3rd: Blues Fusion! Class w/ Krystyna + DJs Krystyna, Sterling, & Whitney**
ATX Fusion is now a monthly event taking place every first Sunday! We offer a class at 7pm, followed by DJ'd dancing from 8-11pm. We're still in Balance Dance Studios' Bravo building, but we're trying out Studio 10 down the hall, which has a different vibe and a nook with comfortable seating--come check it out!
This month, we're hosting a Blues Fusion theme night! Krystyna Lopez will teach a blues basics class aimed at helping Fusion dancers understand the core principles of blues dancing and how to apply them on the Fusion floor. Whether you're a Fusion-first dancer seeking foundations, a dancer trained in other styles looking to branch out, or just seeking a refresher, this class is for you!
Krystyna will also be our first DJ for the night, followed by Sterling Taylor and Whitney Sullivan. Their sets will be Blues Fusion themed, ranging from more traditional blues sounds to what used to be known as "Turquoise" or "Indigo." We hope to see Blues dancers and non Blues dancers alike out on the floor!

Sliding scale: $10-25. We accept card, cash, or Venmo at the door.
We believe in making our events accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation, so our scale begins at $10. We also want to offer reasonable pricing options for those who can only join us for part of the night. However, we really encourage you to pay at least $15 if you are able, so that we can maintain the quality of the event 🙏

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Krystyna fell in love with Fusion dancing in 2017 after a friend dragged her to a sweaty, dimly lit Tango studio. She has extensive training in Blues and WCS, is currently learning Zouk, and has dabbled in other dance styles, but Fusion remains her first dance love. In 2023, she made the leap from NYC to Austin and eventually became one of our board members and regular DJs! She is a huge dance nerd who loves communicating technical concepts in a practical way. In her class, she will not only share the concepts and why they're important, but also provide concrete examples of how to drill them at home and apply them on the dance floor.
LOCATION:
We are now hosting our events at Balance Dance Studios! We are in Studio 10, which is located in Balance Dance Studios' Bravo building, just across the parking lot from their main building. The building we'll be in says "Bravo" on it. If the building says "Balance" on it and has a front desk, you're in the wrong place. If you're driving and using Google Maps, you can put in "Bravo Dance Theater, 4000 West Gate Blvd," but this won't work if you're taking a rideshare.
PLEASE NOTE:
Venue does not permit alcohol. Please feel free to BYO other beverages, especially water, dancing is a physical activity after all!
Only soft-soled dance shoes, socks, or bare feet are allowed on the studio floor. Please do not wear street shoes, heels, or hard-heeled shoes on the studio floor, as they will damage it. Help us keep this beautiful venue in great shape!
If you're feeling under the weather or ill, please don't attend! Take care of yourself, and avoid bringing a contagion to a crowded space and dance partners you care about.

WHAT IS FUSION DANCING?
Fusion is an improvisational partner dance where there's a lead and a follow that isn't confined to or defined by one style. Fusion dancers tend to be familiar with the basics of more than one partner dance (Blues, Tango, West Coast Swing, Brazilian Zouk, Lindy Hop, etc.)
