✨ Honoring the life & legacy of Flaco Jiménez — the legendary accordionist, five-time Grammy Award winner, and 2005 Lifetime Achievement Grammy recipient. An international ambassador of Tejano Conjunto music, Flaco’s artistry bridged cultures through collaborations with artists like The Rolling Stones, Dwight Yoakam, and Ry Cooder. 🎶🌎
Juan and Armando Tejeda have been bringing traditional Tejano Conjunto music to life with button accordion and bajo sexto for nearly 40 years. 🎹🎸
Juan, who retired as a professor of Mexican American Studies & Music at Palo Alto College in 2016, and Armando, currently a professor of Education at Texas A&M University San Antonio, are more than cousins—they’re a living legacy of Conjunto music.
Armando has performed and recorded with Conjunto greats such as Valerio Longoria, Jesse Borrego Sr., Santiago Jiménez Jr., and Flavio Longoria. Together, the Tejeda cousins continue to reunite with Conjunto Aztlán, keeping this vibrant tradition alive. In 2018, they released their first CD together: Raíz XicanX / Juan & Armando Tejeda. 🎶🌟
