📅 Save the Date – Community Information Meeting
📍 Aurora Family Leisure Complex, 135 Industrial Parkway North (at Industrial Parkway N and Wellington St. E)
🗓 Tuesday, September 30
🕖 7–9 pm (drop in anytime)
This is a reminder to show up for the developer’s Community Information Meeting on the proposal for 161 Heathwood Heights.
If you’re worried it means being put on the spot, don’t be. These meetings are very simple:
• You sign in, pick up a handout, and listen to their short presentation.
• You can ask a question if you’d like, but you don’t have to.
• Even if you say nothing, your presence alone counts, attendance is recorded and it shows how engaged the community is.
• It usually lasts about an hour, and even a 10 minute stop-in makes a difference.
✅ Free parking is available at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex, and the room is fully accessible.
Why it matters:
The developer wants to take one large lot and carve it into five detached houses with tiny setbacks. This would jam oversized homes onto undersized lots and set a precedent that could put every large lot in our neighbourhood, and across Aurora, at risk. Heathwood Heights is not an intensification corridor. Allowing this here makes no sense for the environment, for future planning, or for the character of Aurora’s stable neighbourhoods.
👉 Please mark your calendar, bring a neighbour, and show up. Developers rely on low turnout, let’s prove them wrong.
