About the event

June Brown Bag Program: This Train Is Bound For Glory
On Wednesday, June 18th, at 12:30pm Augusta musical local legend, Flo Carter will share her Story during the Museum Brown Bag program. Music is in Flo's DNA from her grandfather and mother to marrying a drummer and her daughters singing in "Sounds of Joy" alongside her. The stories she has to share from her history are ones that will make you smile, tap your foot and maybe even cry a little. Make sure to put this event on your calendar and invite a friend.

The Brown Bag History Lecture Series is provided monthly by the Augusta Museum of History and is an ideal lunchtime break for downtown professionals, retirees, and students. The lectures are free to Museum members and $5 for non-members, no registration required. Participants can bring a lunch to enjoy in the Museum Rotunda as early as 11:30am and the AMH will provide water, hot coffee and a dessert. The lecture takes place in the History Theater at 12:30pm with a short Q&A following. The recorded sessions will be available on the AMH YouTube channel and shared on social media.

In 2025 the Augusta Museum of History will focus the Brown Bag History Lecture Series on collecting oral histories from area families. These family histories will help us as a community preserve legacy, bridge the gap between generations, and give a spotlight to different cultures, histories and stories in our area. Through these lectures and interviews, you, the listener, will gain a unique understanding of Augusta's past, and be inspired to gather and share your own story with your family and others. Most assuredly recording family histories will enrich your understanding of where you come from and guarantee that your family's stories are not lost.
