📄 Event Description (Updated):
Join Citizen Advocacy Auckland and Volition for a free, full-day workshop exploring how to put Supported Decision-Making (SDM) into practice — the human rights-based alternative to substitute decision-making.
This practical, values-based session will help you build skills to support others to make their own decisions, rather than making decisions for them.

What Supported Decision-Making is — and what it’s not
Legal and ethical foundations of SDM in Aotearoa
Capacity, will and preference, and the ‘best interests’ myth
Practical strategies, tools, and documentation using Volition’s online system
How SDM strengthens safeguarding and rights-based practice
👩🏫 Facilitated by Erika Butters – SDM subject matter expert and Founder of Volition, with a background in disability rights and national advocacy.
