Bushglen Reserve Reopening:
Community Planting Day & Reserve Tour
📍 Bushglen Reserve, Browns Bay - 36 Helvetia Drive
🗓️ Sunday 29th June | 10am – 1pm
Join us as we celebrate the re-opening of Bushglen Reserve following recent upgrades to the tracks and boardwalks — and lend a hand to plant native trees, shrubs, and grasses that will help regenerate this unique space.
Bushglen Reserve is an ecological gem, home to the rare swamp maire (Syzygium maire) and many other mature native trees. Saved from development nearly 30 years ago, the reserve continues to thrive thanks to a dedicated volunteer group that works to clear invasive weeds and support the survival of these special species — including those affected by myrtle rust.
Come along for a reserve tour of the refreshed reserve and lend a hand planting natives to restore the reserve.
This is a fantastic opportunity to explore and connect with your local ngahere (bush), while doing something great for the environment.
🧤 What to bring:
Gardening gloves
A clean spade (if you have one — we’ll have extras too)
Water bottle & snacks
Sturdy footwear (boots or closed shoes)
Dress for the weather
This is a family-friendly event — everyone is welcome! Bring your whānau, neighbours and friends and help us with our planting day at one of Auckland’s most special native bush reserves. 💚
