Sidewalk Stroll & Stories with Sam Hendrix

Join us for Sidewalk Stroll and Stories!

Kick off your Saturday with a walk through Auburn’s past. On Saturday, June 14th at 8:30 to 10am, we’re hosting Sidewalk Stroll and Stories—a guided historical walk led by local historian Sam Hendrix, author of Auburn: A History in Street Names.

We’ll meet at Auburn Oil Co. Booksellers (149 E Magnolia.)This walk will focus on the buildings and grounds from Auburn University’s Main Gate—corner of College and Magnolia—over to Samford Hall. Sam will talk about people and events central to this area of town BEFORE the East Alabama Male College was launched in 1856 . . . as well as the variety of events this part of campus has seen over the past 169 years. Background stories connected with Biggin Hall, Hargis Hall, Langdon Hall, the Lathe, and Samford Hall will enable you to see these familiar buildings in an entirely new light.

The walk will begin and end at AOCB and will be very low impact.

As a bonus, participants will receive 15% off any drink from our café to enjoy before or after the tour.

Whether you’re an Auburn native or just curious about the city’s roots, this is a great way to start your weekend. We hope to see you there!
