"The Art of Natya" An Indian Dance Workshop with Content Creation

An interdisciplinary collaboration merging South Asian semi-classical dance with visual art. This series will center on a 30-second choreographed piece inspired by Telugu and Bharatanatyam dance traditions, portraying a powerful story of love, longing, and timeless connection.

The piece explores themes of eternal love and separation—romantic yet painful, elegant yet raw—reflecting both traditional motifs and contemporary emotion.

EVENT FORMAT:

Total Duration: ~1 hour 45 minutes

● Introductory Talk (15 min):

○ Brief history and context of South Asian dance styles

○ Explanation of Bharatanatyam and Telugu influences

○ The story and emotion behind the choreography

● Dance Workshop (1 hour):

○ Learn choreography with step-by-step instruction

○ Emphasis on expression (bhava), rhythm (laya), and form (anga)

● Content Recording (30 min):

○ Group practice & final performance

○ Optional: Individual or small group recordings for content/social media
