Defend the Incarcerated Workshop

What do you think about the 3 deaths in ACC Jail in less than 90 days.

According to Classic City News, on “July 8, 2025, a 31-year-old African American man was found unresponsive inside the Athens-Clarke County Jail. He later died at a local hospital. This marks the third death in that facility since April 22, 2025.”

In response to the recent rise in in-custody deaths in Athens and across Georgia, AADM will host a Know Your Rights Workshop: Defend the Incarcerated on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Athens-Clarke County Library. 5:30-7PM.

This workshop will equip community members with tools to advocate for loved ones behind bars, understand their legal rights, and learn how to file formal complaints if those rights are violated — during incarceration or encounters with law enforcement.
