Housing Club (Community Meetup)

You're invited to join the Astoria Housing Alliance for a community meetup and discussion where we will explore the relationship between homelessness and housing.

We all know that homelessness is a crisis affecting too many in our community. You'll often hear how intractible the problem is and that despite spending vast sums of money to solve it, the problem continues to grow in many cities, including here in Astoria.

What you probably haven't heard about is the growing body of national research comparing differences in cities and counties around the country, which shows that rising rental prices and lower vacancy rates are the two statistically significant factors that correlate to increasing homeless populations in a city or county.

How can we use this information to create policy solutions that will address the root cause of houselessness (a lack of affordable housing)? Join us for a beer (N/A options available), information, and respectful conversation as we explore this topic together.
