Hike the Iconic Maroon Bells

This special edition of our Gone Hikin’ series will be hosted by Hallie Hohner ILR '91, a proud Cornellian and Roaring Fork Valley local.

We’ll hike the scenic 3.5-mile Crater Lake Trail—an easy-to-moderate loop with 688 feet of elevation gain and nonstop postcard-worthy views. After our hike, we’ll regroup for a casual, pay-as-you-go lunch at Highlands Ale House.

Access to the trailhead requires advance planning via shuttle or private transport! The most reliable option is the Maroon Bells Shuttle from Aspen Highlands Welcome Center (tickets are $16 round-trip in advance or $20 for day-of-standby).
