Baptism in The Roaring Fork River, Aspen, Colorado, Saturday, July 26, 2025, 10:00 am, Heron Park
Have you considered baptism? Maybe wanted to get baptized but have not found the time and place that works for you? Then you are invited to join Aspen Community Church at Harron Park in Aspen for a baptism in the Roaring Fork River. Imagine standing, kneeling, or sitting in the river as you receive the holy sacrament of baptism.
Methodist Beliefs About Baptism
Baptism in the Methodist tradition is considered a sacrament—a sacred act commanded by Christ and a means of receiving God's grace. Methodists believe that baptism marks the beginning of a person's journey of faith, symbolizing repentance, forgiveness, and incorporation into the community of believers. It is an outward sign of an inward grace, signifying a cleansing from sin and a new birth in Christ.
Methodists practice baptism by sprinkling, pouring, or immersion and welcome both infants and adults to the sacrament, affirming that God's grace is available to all regardless of age. They believe that baptism is not repeated, as its spiritual significance endures. They do practice a “Remembrance” of one’s baptism, where the individual interacts with the water versus the pastor. While baptism itself does not guarantee salvation, it is seen as an important step in responding to God's love and as an entry into the Christian life and the church community.
