CLASS: Scene Study Skills M/Sat July 7–August 9

This four-week introduction to scene study skills will help actors develop a practice of conceptualizing scenes and “living truthfully in imaginary circumstances.”

Through a combination of in-class exercises and partnered scene work, participants will work on: scene analysis; character and relationship development; objectives, actions, and tactics; listening and responding; power shifts and beats; and thoughtful critique.

We will work with blank scenes, contemporary scenes, and possibly Shakespeare if time and progress allow.

This class is appropriate for beginners or those who want to revisit the basics and brush up their skills. Classes will include time for partnered practice as well as performance and critique. Scene memorization is highly encouraged; performance is required.

This class will meet Mondays 7-9:30pm and Saturdays 11am-1:30pm on the AB Tech campus, starting July 7 and ending August 9. There will be no class on July 26 or 28. Enrollment is limited to ages 16 and up.
