Arboretum Excursions: South Carolina Botanical Gardens

The SCBG is committed to providing world-class educational outreach and opportunities through public classes, engagement with Clemson University classes, and interpretation of exhibits and special events. As a holistic garden, we strive to provide an excellent example to the public of resource-wise, healthy landscapes that foster diversity. We are committed to providing a center for learning and promoting our southeastern native plants, as well as those plants that provide valuable ecosystem services and are well-adapted and resource-wise in our managed landscapes. We are committed to controlling and reducing the negative impact of invasive species in our ecosystem.

Our tour lasts approximately an hour and focuses on the Garden’s history and development, and seasonal highlights. The group will remain in the gardens to explore for another 2 hours before regrouping and ending the day. We will carpool and also offer the option to meet us there at the Botanical Garden at 1 pm. Those carpooling will have time to eat lunch ahead of the tour.

This program takes place outdoors. Please come prepared to walk on gentle, yet uneven terrain, and dress appropriately for the weather.
