Discomfort Dispatch
In August 2024, Francesco Zedde spent two weeks at Copper Leg Art Residency, getting familiar with the residency and the Estonian experimental sound art and music scene, mostly based in Tallinn. During that time, he explored possibilities for realizing his project Discomfort Dispatch in the local context.
Zedde is now back at Copper Leg, making music and organizing a new edition of Discomfort Dispatch, which will unfold across three locations: Copper Leg Art Residency, IDA Radio, and Cabaret Volta.
Discomfort Dispatch is a series of experimental and improvised music events that celebrate collaboration and innovation in sound. It is a transnational and decentralized collective focused on experimental and improvised music. The event will feature collaborations with some of Tallinn’s most innovative musicians, including Mia-Stella Aaslaid, Erik Alalooga, Mark Rennie, Villem Jahu, Maarja Nuut, and Hello Upan. These collaborations will explore new approaches to sound, push creative boundaries, and contribute to Estonia’s dynamic experimental and improvised music community.

Francesco Zedde is an Italian artist based in the Netherlands, originally trained as a guitarist, drummer, and sound engineer. His work primarily explores sound and music-making as a social practice through DIY methods. Performing under the names Tonto for noise music and Tacet Tacet Tacet for electronic music, Zedde also teaches circuit bending and curates the Discomfort Dispatch concert series for improvised music. In addition to performing, he creates soundtracks, facilitates workshops, and develops custom instruments, machines, and software.

On Monday, August 11, at Copper Leg, Rae Old Schoolhouse, Discomfort Dispatch presents five solo performances by Villem Jahu, Cate Hops, Mia-Stella Aaslaid, Francesco Zedde, and Erik Alalooga.
On Tuesday, August 12, at IDA Radio, we will experience duo performances by Mia-Stella Aaslaid, Erik Alalooga, Mark Rennie, Villem Jahu, Maarja Nuut, Francesco Zedde, Cate Hops, and Hello Upan.
On Wednesday, August 13, we gather at Cabaret Volta for the final event, with performances by Mia-Stella Aaslaid, Erik Alalooga, Mark Rennie, Villem Jahu, Francesco Zedde, Cate Hops, and Hello Upan in varied collaborative setups.
