The Virginia Black History Month Association (VaBHMA) will host its Annual Black Health Fair on Friday, 27 February 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The Health Fair will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm the day before the 26th Annual Virginia Black History Month Gala. The event is $5.00 each and is open to the public! All are welcome to attend. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served for all in attendance.
The Black Health Fair: According to the US Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Minority Health, African American adults are 80% more likely than non-Hispanic white adults to have been diagnosed with diabetes by a physician. In addition, African American men and women are 30% more likely to die from heart disease than non-Hispanic white males. For many of us, these statistics are alarming and preventable in some cases. Time after time, we hear of family and friends who were diagnosed with a serious illness that could have had a better outcome, if only, they had been making regular visits to the doctor’s office for checkups and preventative screenings.
Therefore, the VaBHMA has invited 30 or more Healthcare Organizations to perform on-the-spot prescreening (if possible), provide lifesaving information, or set up appointments for the community to get screened by their private physician. We aim to save lives by providing much-needed information to those who need it most: the African American Community.
