SUMMER 'STOCK THE SHELVES' - WESTERN WAKE CRISIS MINISTRY
WWCM needs our help in stocking the food pantry shelves. The WWCM food pantry serves over 450 families per month and the need continues to grow, with a number of new clients coming from families that have been affected by the layoffs of federal employees. WWCM knows that demand will again increase over the summer because children who usually receive free or reduced lunches during the school year go without when school is out over the summer. To meet these needs, WWCM is running a food drive from May 5 to July 31, hoping to receive 75,000 pounds of food from the Apex community at large.
Here at Apex UMC, we have a goal of donating at least 1000 pounds by June 13, the last day of traditional school. All non-perishable food donations are appreciated.
Items most needed are pasta sauce (Hunts, Ragu, etc.), dried pasta, pancake mix, canned meat (chicken, tuna, spam, etc.), canned fruit, canned tomatoes and tomato paste, packaged side items (rice, potato, pasta, etc.), peanut butter, jelly, rice, canned or dried beans, baked beans, crackers, snack items (granola, cookies, poptarts, etc.), brownie and cake mixes, condiments and cooking oil. Paper towels, hygiene items and laundry detergent are also needed. Please help out if you are able.
Place your donations in the WWCM marked bins found outside in the traffic circle. Thank you for all your donations and your support of our neighbors who need a helping hand.
