"The original Trop Rocker..."
Del Suggs is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from the beaches of North Florida and is recognized as one of the pioneers of “Trop Rock." Early in his career, Del coined the term "saltwater music" to describe his style. He is included in the book “Trop Rock Songs: Stories and Tales” by Andy Forsyth, and his songs are frequently covered by other Trop Rock artists-- his song “Magic Chair” was the title track John Reno's third album, and is featured on Skip Crowther's latest release. Del was a founder of the Florida Chapter of The Recording Academy (The Grammy Awards), has been inducted into the National Campus Entertainment Hall of Fame, and named one of the "Top Five Artists of the Past 25 Years" by Campus Activities Magazine.
In 1985, Todd Sparks traded Anniston for the beaches of Panama City, Florida, and fate led him straight to Pineapple Willy's. What started as a music show morphed into a comedy/music act called The Party Doctor. He wrote Southwest Take Me There, a song that landed him a gig for the grand opening of Panama City's airport. That one track turned into an entire album, The Gulf of Mexico, celebrating life on the coast.Since then, he’s written songs for albums and singles that've been played around the world. He’s been a CMT and Heart Radio artist, co-hosted Party in Paradise with my partner Sunshine Cheri, and had songs featured by Southwest Airlines and Acme Oyster House. Oh, and he’s also worked with some legendary artists like Johnny Rivers, Percy Sledge, & Collin Raye.
