Op vrijdagavond 20 juni brengt de Palestijnse sopraan Nour Darwish een unieke live-uitvoering van een aria uit As If No Misfortune Had Occurred in the Night – het centrale werk in Larissa Sansours tentoonstelling While We Count Our Earthquakes.
Deze Arabischtalige opera – gecomponeerd door Anthony Sahyoun – verweeft de Europese melancholie van Mahlers Kindertotenlieder met het Palestijnse lied Al Ouf Mash’al. De performance vindt plaats in de tentoonstellingsruimte zelf, in aanwezigheid van het videowerk waarin Darwish eveneens te zien is.
Een zeldzaam moment waarin live muziek, rouw, verzet en visuele kunst samensmelten. Mis dit niet!

On Friday evening, June 20, Palestinian soprano Nour Darwish will give a one-time live performance of an aria from As If No Misfortune Had Occurred in the Night — the central video work in Larissa Sansour’s exhibition While We Count Our Earthquakes.
This Arabic-language opera, composed by Anthony Sahyoun, blends the European mourning of Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder with the traditional Palestinian lament Al Ouf Mash’al. The performance takes place in the exhibition space itself, in the presence of the video installation featuring Darwish.
