Friday the 13th. The perfect moment to dust off the telekinesis, cast some spells and take revenge on enemies who deserve it. We do just that with two cult classics that bring us in the right mood and take us back to high school. The perfect décor for some really scary stuff!
CARRIE (US 1976 - 98' NO ST)
Carrie White is an outcast at school. Because of her religiously fanatical mother’s sheltered upbringing, Carrie is unwise to the ways of the world and awkward. An easy target for bullies. Her classmates plot the ultimate humiliation at their senior prom, but don’t know that Carrie has telekinetic powers…
King of Horror Stephen King wrote his first published novel Carrie in 1974 and immediately had a famous fan: director Brian De Palma. De Palma cast Sissy Spacek as the now legendary title character and created CARRIE, a horror masterpiece that is still relevant – especially in times of increasing violence and bullying in school – 50 years after its release.
We screen the brand-new 4K restoration of CARRIE.
THE CRAFT (US 1996 - 101' NO ST)
Just like in CARRIE, we find ourselves back in high school in THE CRAFT. The bullies are there too. As are the teenage girls and their paranormal powers. Sarah Bailey is the newcomer at a catholic prep school. She becomes friends with three outcasts, who are whispered to be witches. When the foursome discovers ‘the craft’, nothing stands in their way to use it for themselves and to teach their tormentors a little something.
This double bill promises some uncomfortable flashbacks to high school but equally guarantees a night of spooky fun. Witchcraft, telekinesis and blood, lots of blood. Great on the big screen, but make sure to have some liquid courage before heading out into the moonlight… There are single tickets or combo tickets for both films available!
