Eind 2024 sloeg een groot aantal organisaties uit het Antwerpse middenveld de handen in elkaar. Voortaan zouden ze samen acties en activiteiten organiseren – tegen de genocide in Gaza en de Israëlische kolonisatie van de Palestijnse gebieden, en vóór een vreedzame oplossing.
Na een open brief met vijf concrete eisen aan ons stadsbestuur om haar medeplichtigheid te stoppen, een mars, een massabetoging op de Groenplaats (+3500 personen!) en meer dan een halfjaar wekelijkse maandagacties in solidariteit met het Palestijnse volk, is er helaas nog maar weinig veranderd.
Want het stadsbestuur heeft haar banden met Israël nog steeds niet verbroken. De genocide is nog steeds niet voorbij. Breed mobiliseren blijft dus noodzakelijk, en daarom houden we een nieuwe mars op zondag 11/1. We starten om 13:00 aan de Bolivarplaats en wandelen richting Steenplein. Onze eis blijft hetzelfde: “Breek nu eindelijk die banden met Israël, stop de medeplichtheid.” Ook in 2026 blijven we ons dus inzetten voor een vrij Palestina!

We vragen dat het Antwerps stadsbestuur:
1. oproept tot een onmiddellijk en permanent staakt-het-vuren in Gaza;
2. alles in het werk stelt om de doorvoer van wapens naar Israël via de Antwerpse haven te onderzoeken en aan banden te leggen;
3. een ethisch aankoopbeleid op stadsniveau invoert, zodat alle bedrijven medeplichtig aan oorlogsmisdaden en misdaden tegen de menselijkheid worden uitgesloten, en met andere centrumsteden pleit voor een ethisch aankoopbeleid op Vlaams niveau;
4. de stedenband met zusterstad Haifa onder de loep neemt om te verzekeren dat de overeenkomsten tussen Antwerpen en Haifa niet bijdragen aan schendingen van het internationaal recht en de mensenrechten;
5. alle handelsmissies naar Israël opschort, zolang Israël bijdraagt aan de systematische schending van de rechten van Palestijnen en het internationaal humanitair recht.
📢Verspreid de boodschap en neem je vrienden, buren en familie mee. Kom in groep of met een buddy.
🇵🇸Breng je Palestijnse vlaggen mee, alsook bordjes met boodschappen voor het stadbestuur. Vlaggen van andere onderdrukte volken of landen zijn ook welkom, partijpolitieke symbolen mag je thuislaten.

🚫Elke vergoelijking van oorlogsmisdaden, aanvallen tegen burgers of elke uiting van antisemitisme, islamofobie of enige andere vorm van racisme zal leiden tot uitsluiting van de actie.

At the end of 2024, a large number of Antwerp organizations decided to start working together. From then on, they would organize joint actions and activities: against the genocide in Gaza and the Israeli colonization of the Palestinian territories, and in favor of a peaceful solution.
After an open letter with five concrete demands to our city council to end its complicity, a march, a mass demonstration on Groenplaats (+3500 people!) and more than six months of weekly Monday actions in solidarity with the Palestinian people, unfortunately little has changed.
The city council has still not quit its ties with Israel. The genocide is still ongoing. Broad mobilization therefore remains necessary, which is why we are holding a new march on Sunday, January 11. We will start at 1:00 p.m. at Bolivarplaats and walk towards Steenplein. Our demand remains the same: “Break those ties with Israel now, stop the complicity.” So in 2026, we will continue to fight for a free Palestine!

We ask the Antwerp city council to:
1. call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza;
2. make every effort to investigate and restrict the transit of weapons to Israel via the port of Antwerp;
3. introduce an ethical procurement policy at city level, so that all companies complicit in war crimes and crimes against humanity are excluded, and advocate for an ethical procurement policy at the Flemish level together with other city centers;
4. review the city partnership with sister city Haifa to ensure that the agreements between Antwerp and Haifa do not contribute to violations of international law and human rights;
5. suspend all trade missions to Israel as long as Israel contributes to the systematic violation of Palestinian rights and international humanitarian law.
📢 Spread the word and bring your friends, neighbors, and family. Come as a group or with a buddy.
🇵🇸 Bring your Palestinian flags, as well as signs with messages for the city council. Flags of other oppressed peoples or countries are also welcome, but please leave party political symbols at home.

🚫 Any condoning of war crimes, attacks against civilians, or any expression of anti-semitism, Islamophobia, or any other form of racism will result in exclusion from the action.
