Art on the Avenue

Art on the Avenue is an evening of art, music and celebration as part of Annapolis Arts Week! The week long event showcases juried artists painting in plein air.

Maryland Avenue is closed to traffic. From 6 – 8 PM Juried and Public Artists exhibit a painting they have created that best showcases the architecture of Historic Annapolis, with awards given at 7 PM. Attending this event is free and open to the public.

Many Maryland Avenue shops will be open late for your shopping pleasure and there will be live music and food available as well.

Plein air painting, meaning "in the open air" in French, is the practice of painting outdoors with the subject in full view. This technique allows artists to capture the natural light, colors, and movement of a scene, resulting in a unique and often spontaneous style.
