Come learn the nuts and bolts of becoming a clinical supervisor or refresh your skills if you are a seasoned supervisor. Under the umbrella of NASW and KS BSRB's requirements, we will look at the role and responsibilities of clinical social work supervisor and supervisee. By using experiential activities, powerpoint, case scenarios and videos, you will identify clinical supervision ethics, values, liabilities and best practice for documentation. Strategies for interviewing and selecting potential supervisees will be reviewed as well. You will get sample contracts, interview questions, documentation, and topics for supervision. Group supervision strategies, assessment of the clinician and how to provide meaningful feedback is also be covered. We will discuss how to navigate subpoenas, abuse reporting and custody, and other liability and legal issues. Finally, you will walk away with creative supervision activities you can implement immediately! Training includes 3 hours of ETHICS!

There will be: 4 1.5-hour sessions, 2 15-minute breaks and 1 30-min lunch break.
1) Participants will articulate the role and responsibility of the clinical supervisor under the requirements of the KS BSRB and NASW.
2) Participants will identify 2 theoretical models of clinical supervision.
3) Participants will identify how attachment theory applies in the supervisory relationship.
4) Participants will review the legal responsibilities and liability risk of clinical supervision.
5) Participants will apply best strategies in interviewing and selecting supervisees, advertising and pricing services.
6) Participants will assess strategies for best practice in clinical supervision documentation, contracts and payment.
7) Participants will discuss the ethical importance of balancing personal values and the therapeutic alliance in supervision.
8) Participants will analyze how to ethically apply cultural humility in supervision.
0) Participants will create an ethical plan for self-care and boundaries in supervision.
10) Participants will explain the practice, types and process of group supervision best practices.
11) Participants will list 3 ways to assess development of the supervisee in clinical supervision.
12) Participants will analyze the research demonstrating the benefits of using expressive arts and creative techniques in the supervision process.
13) Participants will demonstrate 3 creative approaches in clinical supervision.
An evaluation and certificate will be send to electronically you after the trainig is over.
Ragan is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™ . She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wichita State University. She also has a Master’s in Education from Newman University. She is certified Trauma-Focused CBT and EMDR (through EMDRIA). She also provides training for mental health clinicians and supervision for those seeking licensure as a LSCSW for 15 years in the state of Kansas and nationally as a Registered Play Therapist since 2018.
Ragan has been a social worker for 20 years and worked in foster care, adoptions, drug and alcohol counseling, school social work, medical and psychiatric social work, and is currently in private practice.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Cancellations received at least 7 days prior to a scheduled training are refundable at 100%. After that, no refunds will be issued. You may reschedule for a future training if there is one available. Eventbrite fees are not refundable. You may send another attendee in your place.
No shows or missed trainings will receive no refund or credit.
No partial CE credit is available. Attendees must be present the entire duration of the training.
Play therapy continuing education credit will not be awarded to non-mental health professionals.
All trainings are subject to sufficient registration.
