Time to stock your TOOLBOX.
If you've been dancing TARRAXO and want to expand your move vocabulary, or you're curious about learning it properly, this series is for you.
TARRAXO TOOLBOX is a monthly exploration where we break down essential TARRAXO concepts and give you practical tools you can actually use on the social dance floor. Each week focuses on one core concept, then we drill multiple variations and applications so you understand the WHY behind every move.
This is an open level series. Whether you took TARRAXO Foundations in January or you're completely new to TARRAXO but have some Kizomba/partner dance experience, you're welcome. We'll meet you where you are.
🧰 March Toolbox
➡️ Intro to Leg Lifts
We start by treating leg lifts as an extension of your weight transfer, not a random “kick.” You’ll learn how to create space for your partner’s leg, how to support their balance, and how to lift or receive a leg without breaking the grounded Tarraxo feeling. We’ll focus on subtle, controlled lifts that feel safe, connected and musical rather than flashy for the sake of it.
➡️ Level Changes & Hesitations
Here we play with gravity and time. You’ll explore how to go slightly higher or lower in your body while keeping your axis and connection intact, and how to use mini-drops, soft bends and rises to shape the energy of the dance. On top of that, we’ll work with hesitations—those intentional “almost moving / not yet” moments that create tension, groove and playful conversation with the music.
➡️ ChaCha Variations
This week is all about groove and footplay. We’ll take the Tarraxo-style cha-cha and use it as a rhythm tool: how to place the feet, how to keep the hips and upper body talking, and how to choose when to stay on the spot vs. travel. Then we build variations—direction changes, expansions and compressions—so your cha-cha becomes a way to colour phrases in the music, not just a fixed step.
➡️ Blocks
Blocks are how you “draw the frame” of the dance. Instead of always allowing the natural exit or direction, you’ll learn how to gently stop, redirect or contain your partner in a way that feels clear but comfortable. We’ll look at how blocks work through the body (not just the arms), how to use them to create tension and release, and how they connect to the Tarraxo idea of staying in the pocket rather than constantly travelling.
